Not men playing rounders (baseball) or running around in body armour %26amp; helmets (US football) or even 7" 4' freaks throwing a ball through a hoop?|||I can tell you most of us don't follow it because every four years we are told that we should. Another answer is that our teams always suck and I'm pretty sure that most Americans won't root for anyone else. The game has never really taken root here. The the MLS is growing though so maybe in 20 years we'll give a rip. For right now it's pretty much the foreign born Americans and their kids that pay attention.
Plus we stole all our sports from others. Rounders (baseball), Rugby (American football)... we stole basketball from the indigenous South Americans. The only sport we really invented was volleyball. There are elements of tennis but it's a stretch.
I do LOVE Python. I grew up seeking A bit of Fry and Laurie whenever I could as well.
We borrow everything. We're only 200+ year old. We have nothing but hand-me downs. For some reason though soccer has never been one of the.|||1. yes. as an american, all of my friends and family are watching the world cup. we're just not as purely insane about it as the rest of the world.
2. your question isn't a question, you're just trying to make it sound like americans are oblivious to the rest of the world. which some are. but not all of us...
3. baseball,(gridiron) football, and basketball are all just as much sports as football/soccer. I don't see why the rest of the world is so butthurt just because we were innovative enough to come up with 3 national pastimes.. YES we play soccer/football, YES some of us like it, but not all. For someone who sounds prejudiced towards the USA for being ignorant, you're sounding pretty ignorant yourself.|||No I think the World cup is really the world cup of association football, baseball is not rounders, armor and helmets are for protection (wearing protection is never, ever a dumb choice, remember that kids) and 7 feet 4 people aren't freaks. They are humans just like you and I.
Alistair, below, is wrong about baseball. Google it.|||Do you "realise" you cant spell? And just because soccer (football as you lobsterbacks call it) is the only sport your God-forsaken country can compete with us in, doesn't mean you need to bash the sports that we play. And do you realize basketball, and baseball are in the olympics? And honestly, if you don't live here, don't open your mouth. You have no right to judge a country you don't know a Fu*k about, except for that they are the only superpower (a role we proudly took from you after WW2 :) :) hahahahahahaha) and do you realize that we tied your cocky soccer (football) team? Suck my d*ck|||LOLOL
I literally just described their sports the same as you only in another question
*EDIT* Btw...omfg Eric C are you stupid? Don't you "realise" that you are speaking the English language and THAT is how you spell "realise" in ENGLISH. Americans are the ones who changed it to "realize" so actually YOU are wrong. Learn to speak and spell the language correctly before you have a go at others|||anyone can say football is just men running around passing in a triangle and always flopping, as much as i love the sport... its true and fairly easy to pick out faults
so really, don't disrespect a sport..|||Does every non-American think they know everything and that all Americans know nothing?
I feel sorry for your family...|||You can pick out faults in any sport. That's exactly what you're asking for with this question.|||the world cup is everyone, the USA only play there other crappy sports by themselves|||Yea except the USA are the only country in the world that give a toss about baseball.|||the yanks are on a high, its been a while since they won something or even drew even
give them a break or they will start, killing english soldiers with there friendly fire|||Because.|||I believe they are busy munching off to pizza and other fatty food.|||World Cup is better|||Yes.|||What is your point?|||your mom.|||you brits are still mad you couldnt beat us i see? hhaaahahhahahah|||It's not that we don't know - it's that we don't care.
