New to Association Football (soccer), and need to know some basics?

I'm getting into watching Football, but really I know nothing about it, I don't have a team I follow yet (probably going to be Mexico), and let alone know the rules.

What are some basics you could tell me, anything really. One thing I was wondering was how do you go about picking what team to follow, what's the difference (if any) between Major League Soccer, a National team, and any other levels that there might be.|||The team you decide to cheer for is not something that you can really pick consciouslly.. it's more like a feeling of or something like that. The difference between Major League Soccer (MLS) and National Team is simple... The MLS is like the NBA or the NFL. Meanwhile, the National Team, is like the Dream Team (relating it to the NBA), where only players who have US Citizenship can be elected. There are many "levels" in soccer, for example, women and men soccer. Then, there are categorizations by age limit mostly, like Under 21 (it means only players who are younger than 21yrs can play), Under 20, Under 17, and many more. Speaking of the rules, you can find a whole bunch of information on the internet, just type "Soccer Rules" on any search engine and you'll get what you are looking for. My advice is to watch as many games as possible so you can get familiar with the terms involved! Hope this helps!
