Were they not good enought for the NFL? What is the difference between the skill levels of the players|||The Canadian Football League limits the number of American players to half of their teams rosters, currently 21. American players are called "imports".
With 8 teams, that means no more than 168 Americans can be in the league at one time. The average player salary is less than the NFL minimum.
The overall skill levels between the CFL and the NFL are significant. A lot of marginal NFL players have played in the CFL. And, as others have posted, some signed with NFL teams and had great careers.
There is a lot of coaches movement between the 2 leagues as well. And some college coaches get experience in the CFL. Two of the more respected NFL head coaches previously coached championship CFL teams, Bud Grant and Marv Levy., |||Were they not good enought for the NFL?

The USA is more of a football place than Canada is.
So, it's kind of like why all the American hockey players are Canadian, European or Russian. Except it's not about size, it's just that there isn't much ice time to be had for the youth of most of the USA, but up in Canada, we all get icetime for at least half the year from childhood forward. lol|||first of all its the Canadian football League not what you said
second there not big enough a lot of great players played in the CFL : Doug Flutie,Jeff Garcia,Joe Horn,Terell Suggs,Andre Rison,Ricky WIlliams, and Mike Vanderjagt. just to name a few|||They are playing for the Canadian league because that was their choice just like NFL Europe, the are helping to spread American football. You will also find out that there are less loud mouths and show-offs in the other two leagues. Also the salaries are much better across the board|||It's the same reason that there are so many American players playing basketball overseas and getting rich at the same time.
