So why do Americans insist it's called soccer when the international governing body even call it football. Change it, and change your sport to rugby or handball, because form what i can tell the ball is rarely ever kicked in the sport anyways|||Germany is really Deutschland, why do we all go about calling it Germany, Munich is really Munchen why are we changing the names of things? How dare we change the name of things, its not like anything else in the world has two names for the same thing my goodness no things should have only one name for something yes let us and make sure that things only have one name.|||Soccer is an older word that was exported from Britain and is derived from the title of Association Football.
Americans already have their own bizarre thing which they call Football, which by rights should more properly be called Handegg.
Worryingly, I've also noticed that they don't seem to know the difference between boots and cleats either. Obviously cleats are the pointy things at the bottom of a pair of boots, and for about the past 15 or so years have all been moulded as part of the underside of the boots.
Clearly asking the question about "what sort of cleats they should buy" is equally as stupid.
Then again, it could just be the fact that Americans at least represented by the people asking questions here, are actually just more stupid in general.|||Then why do Sky Sports, a British company, call their Saturday show... Gillette SOCCER Saturday??
I'm English but don't get your point. Who cares??
