By football I mean Association Football (sometimes known as 'soccer'), not 'Grid-iron' which is only particularly popular in the US.|||Definitely Football. In the U.S. though I would say Star Wars by a slim margin. If you look at impoverished countries, you always see images of kids playing football in the streets and such. It's all they can really do for entertainment often times, as they don't have money, and we know the majority of the world is poor. They don't have the privileges of movies and such a lot of the time, and as a result wouldn't have a lot of exposure to the films.|||Star wars (i think)|||Worldwide? Soccer / football.

Scott is right.|||I wish I could say the answer was Star Wars, but it's not. Football is more popular.
I mean I've seen people in some countries who had never heard about Star Wars, and I was like "What planet are you from?! Have you been living under a rock the past 30 years ?!!" But everyone around the globe knows what football or soccer is.
Soccer is definitely more popular except maybe in the US.
I for one like Star Wars more than any sport. And I'm not only talking about the movies, but also the books, comic books, e-books, and cartoons even The Clone Wars which everyone seem to dislike. I guess I'm a real Lucas hound.|||Star wars by a landslide.
