Why does Yahoo answers list Association football as Football (soccer)?

Its rather uninformed of Yahoo.





Look up the meaning of FIFA. Not once is soccer mentioned.|||because FIFA is a french based organization where they call it 'football'...that's why you never see the word 'soccer'. the reason they put 'football (soccer)' on yahoo! answers is bc there are a lot of american fans on here that confuse american football with association football.|||Because it's an American (owned) site. I hate the word soccer when reffering to football. Those damn Yanks, there'd be uproar if we started playing baseball and renamed it something like Batball. Well they are American and according to most of 'em they can do what the hell they like.





They still think that Iraq (Saddam) had something to do with 9/11...and as for all those Weapons of Mass Destruction he had lol.|||It is an American based site - its pathetic - but they did put it in brackets.|||Probably so as not to confuse Americans who seem to be under a misapprehension that football is a game played by men in helmets and full body armour who throw a rugby shaped ball and try and catch it!|||Hey, dumb-*** European. Is it listed as such in European versions of Yahoo!?





Problem is, Americans are too stupid to stop calling football football, even though there is little kicking in that sport. So Dumb-*** Americans have to delinate between American football (pass %26amp; run) and European Football (kick %26amp; run).





I bet in the European version of Yahoo!, it is just refered to as Football, and that American football is called something else.|||Americans equate football with american football

Association became Assoc. and then they shortened the whole thing to soccer!





Yahoo being an american company is allowed to call it soccer to distinguish it from the meaning that is more common in america!|||It's an attempt to prevent lots of Questions and Answers relating to Football (Gridiron) being placed in this directory.|||Because americans have to have it there way.
