Which game requires more strategy ? American Football or Association Football ?

American Football has a fixed playbook with 100s of rules, but Association Football has more room

for strategic improvisation by the players during the game rather than the coach. The strategy is itself pre-planned or dynamic in the sense that wingers switch flanks to throw of marking and playing a target man vs a poacher. It is also way more fluid right ? Also, don't European Managers spend 100s of hours trying to look at the opposition team's strategy and prepare their own for every upcoming game ? How is it any less strategic than American Football ?

Is the word "strategy" mentioned far too much in the media which makes us think its more strategic?|||American football requires more strategy. There I said it...|||American footballers are just robots that do the coaches bidding. If the play is not run correctly they have another chance to try again. Association footballers have to think for themselves, they don't have the benefit of taking a break and having another try. The strategy for American football is in a play book. The strategy for Association football is in the players creativity and skill.|||Have to say American football as there are many more facets to the game ie: offensive teams, defensive teams, special teams encompassing kickoffs, punts, field goals. Then there is the red zone tactics both defensivly and offensivly. each team has a roster of 50+ players.

I'm not a fan of American throwball though.|||American Football requires more startegy, that's how the game's designed.

But Football (proper Football) easily requires a lot more skill.|||American football by far.

Not saying it's a better game

just that it is all about strength and strategy.
